Flow is For Everyone

Flow is for Everyone

FLOW: the action or fact of moving along in a steady, continuous stream;

see also FLOW STATE: a state of mind in which a person becomes fully immersed in an activity

Following the success of our first Flow workshop back in November, we will be exploring Flow movement again Sunday February 28th. This workshop, led by Zachary Koval- a mover, dancer, coach, and LMT; is for ALL who have a body, no movement experience necessary.

Flowing between concept and form, and having fun while we do it, we'll learn movement vocabulary and how to put them together fluidly into a free flowing combination. Exploring contraction and expansion, weight shift and sharing, center of mass over base of support, and how restriction and rules can provide us the freedom to both find and express movement that feels good for our bodies. Come prepared to sense, sweat, and move; finding a new way to be in your body and in the world.

In the workshop:

  • You’ll learn specific shapes and traveling forms, and how to transition smoothly between them

  • You’ll learn to listen to your body to both find and express the movements it wants and needs

  • You’ll develop your mobility, strength, conditioning, and coordination (without even realizing that you’re working out)

  • You’ll learn movement concepts that can be applied in your daily life, as well as to all your physical activities

  • You’ll leave with a specific flow to practice on your own, as well the knowledge of how to craft your own

Flow workshop

Flow is not a strict set of exercises; flow is a concept. A concept that we use to develop your movement awareness.

All too often exercise is pigeon-holed, "oh it must be Pilates, it must be gymnastics, CrossFit, powerlifting, P90x" or whatever other flashy name. While all of these systems have their benefits the very systemization of them also has their negatives.

We have ended up in a place of movement and exercise with zero creativity. By incorporating flow into your routines you are bringing exploration into your exercise routine. It's playful, it's childlike, no right or wrong, only concepts and patterns that will help you expand your movement.

In this workshop you will learn the concepts of flow with some basic moves and how to transition from movement to movement.

Broaden your connection with movement and learn how to exercise separately from sets, reps and parameters. Think of this as movement freedom.
