No pain no gain? Rest it until it's better? The art of exercising with pain is somewhere in the middle.
Pain can be a great teacher, although it's not always pleasant or fun. Working with pain or recovering from an injury can teach you so much about your body, movement, your motivations, your goals, your beliefs...indeed, yourself.
In this two-hour workshop, you’ll learn a practical approach to keep exercising, moving, and playing within your comfort zone. You'll learn some criteria for when to modify or stop an activity, and when it's OK to move with some discomfort or pain. Also, what IS pain anyway? (Hint: it's more complicated than you might think!)
The goal of this workshop is to promote confidence, self-efficacy, creativity, and longevity in your movement practice rather than fear and avoidance. And, of course, when it's appropriate to consult with an expert, because sometimes we all need a little help.
You’ll come away with a new understanding of pain, of your own coping strategies — and new tools to work with your body in an empowering way. All levels welcome!
