Intention
Ever notice how two people can do the exact same workout, but only one of them really changes?
It’s not the program or the exercise—it’s the intention behind the movement. That’s the difference between just going through the motions and creating a stimulus that tells your body to adapt.
Whether your goal is building strength, staying active for years to come, or just feeling better in your own skin, the way you move has to match what you want. The exercise itself is just the vehicle—the stimulus is what drives the result.
That’s why I always ask: what are you intending to do?
If you’re chasing strength, the intention might be moving the weight until the muscles fail. If you’re building power, it’s moving with speed and force. If it’s mobility, it might be slowing down and letting the body sink into a range.
This isn’t about training harder. It’s about training smarter—and paying attention to what you’re really asking your body to do.
If you’re already training with us: next time you walk into class, bring this question with you: what’s my intention today? Play with it. Notice the difference. Curiosity is the starting point.
If you’re not training with us yet: this is exactly what we teach every day at Uptown Movement—how to match your movement to your goal so you actually see the results you’ve been working for. Come try a class and experience it yourself.
Consistency will always win. But consistency with intention? That’s where the magic happens.
