What: Stage/Theatrical Combat Workshop

• Join SAFD Fight Master, Dale Girard, and Certified Teacher, Leighton Samuels, for two hours of theatrical violence! This workshop is being offered just for Uptown Movement members-no prior martial arts or stage combat experience needed. You don’t have to be an artist to attend either; rather, this is an opportunity to apply your movment skills in a new and fun way. Learn how to fall safely, and pickup a string of combat choreography.

Who:

Dale Anthony Girard

An award-winning Fight Director, Stunt Coordinator and author of the stage combat manual Actors On Guard. Dale is a Third-Degree Black Belt, a member of North Carolina Stuntmen’s Association and a Fight Masters with the Society of American Fight Directors. Based in North Carolina, he teaches stage combat for UNC School of the Arts.  

Leighton Samuels

Leighton is a New York City based actor most recently featured in Netflix's Mindhunter. He's living that freelance hustle life, but has been consistently acting either in the Regional Theater scene, independent short films, or web content with companies like Thrillist and NowThis. Leighton is a Certified Teacher with the Society of American Fight Directors.
