Just Hangin’ around…
This two part series is intended to build your confidence and capabilities for hanging, swinging and pulling your bodyweight using your arms.
We know that having enough upper body strength has great health benefits for our posture, spinal stability, and even the cardiovascular system. Plus, mastering the skills of climbing can really boost our confidence in exploring the natural world. Yet, supporting your weight with your arms can be intimidating and overwhelming for many adults.
Class 1 Feb 12th:
In the first class, we’ll look at how to build the flexibility and stability of the individual parts of the body that are needed for “brachiation” (swinging from the arms). It will be a class devoted to the topic of hanging without ever having to support your bodyweight. It will address how to make the movements themselves easier before gradually adding heavier loads.
Class 2 March 5th:
Then a few weeks later, we’ll return and practice some practical skills and principles from the Mov Nat philosophy that will help us hang and swing with more efficiency and ease.
The series will leave you feeling empowered to play in nature where climbing and swinging may be needed and feeling confident in building this upper body practice into your life.
